Dell Monitor UltraScan P1110
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This is the problemIt looks like this...
(I forget to take a photo of the faulty monitor, this picture is a fake, by it shows the problem) To repair the monitor, place it on a table, with the screen down.Step 1: Removing the Monitor plastic case
At the bottom of the monitor, there are 2 screws.
They are holding the back side of the the monitor case.
Remove this two screws.
At the top of the monitor thera are two plasic tabs (inside the case).
Press with a screwdriver and at the same time, move the case upp.
Remove the plasic case and it look something like this. At the top (the back of the monitor) there is a small metall case. (A part of the RF Shielding around the monitors electronic components.)
Step 2: removing a part off the RF shieldingAt the top (the back of the monitor) there is a small metall case. (A part of the RF Shielding around the monitors electronic components.) Remove this metall case. Starting with removing all screwes.
Remove the metal shield by pressing it away from You.
Step 3: locate resistor R459Inside there are two PC-boards. Solder-side to You.
Locate resistor R459.
Locate resistor R459 -yes.
You can see a part of R459 on the other side of the PC-board. (On the component side)
R459 value
Just for fun- ( You don´t need to do this momemt) I measure the value of R459 (with OHM-meter )
Resistor R459 nominal value are 10 Mohm. I messured 9,89 Mohm (9M89).
Step 3: Make R459 lower (resistanse -Ohm) valueTo regain the original quality of the P1110 monitor, we are going to substitute ther original R459 (10MOhm) with a resistor in the range of 4,7 MOhm (4M7) to 6,8MOhm (6M8). Lower value result in darker monitor I selected 5.6 MOhm resistor (5M6)
I unsolder the right "leg". And remove the solder using a Vacum Solder remover.
Unsoldered (right leg) original resistor R459.
Unconnect original resistor R459. By bended down the resistors right leg.
!!! An other way to remove the original Resistor -cutting off R459`s both component legs... Insert a new Resistor. By bending the original resistor down, I got a nice mounting hole for the right side Resistor leg. The left side is just soldered to the original resistors left legs
step 4: Reassemble the monitorAfter that, put Your monitor together again...t31
